Work Climate Results

Once you have finished conducting the survey, we will organize the data into summary tables for each of the three work climate dimensions. Although you will not be doing the math, it is helpful to know how the tables of results are determined. Here’s how these tables will be created:

Step 1: For each survey item, the statistical software will add up the number of people who gave the same answer to a question and then divide by the total number of people that completed surveys. This number is then multiplied by 100 to get the percentage of employees who gave that answer. The name used in statistics for this type of information is frequencies.

Step 2: To get an average score for a survey item, we will be assigning a numeric value to each person’s answer (1 through 5). One will represent "Strongly Disagree" and five will represent "Strongly Agree." We will add together the numbers for all respondents and than divide by the number of respondents. This will create an average score for that item. The name used in statistics for this type of information is the mean.

Step 3: For each work climate dimension, we will reorder the statements from the statement that had the highest score to the lowest score. As a result the survey item with the highest average score will appear first, followed by the second highest, etc.
